How to Add or Remove the Customize Tab from Properties in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
InformationThis will show you how to add or remove the Customize tab in the Properties window and the Cutomize this folder context menu item of folders and drives for all users in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
If the Customize tab is removed, all users will not be able to change the folder template, folder icon, or drive and folder pictures to show on icon.
NoteBy default, shell folders such as Desktop, Contact, Windows, Program Files, and system hard drives (ex: C: ) do not have the Customize tab in their Properties window and cannot have it added to them.
EXAMPLE: Customize Tab Added (default) and Removed from Properties
NOTE: This is in non system folders and drives when you right click on them and click on Properties. EXAMPLE: Customize Tab Added (default) and Removed from Context Menu
NOTE: This is in non system folders and drives when you open them in Windows Explorer, then right click on a empty space to open the context menu to see Customize this folder.
Here's How:1. Do step 2 or 3 below for what you would like to do.
2. To Add or Restore the Customize Tab
NOTE: This is the default setting.A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.Restore_Customize_Tab.reg3. To Remove the Customize TabThat's it,A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.4. Save the .reg file to your desktop.Remove_Customize_Tab.reg
5. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.
6. If prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC Windows 7/8) or Continue (UAC Vista), Yes, and OK.
7. When finished, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
