If you wanted to install XP Mode, then you would want to leave that installed, and also install the 64-bit Windows Virtual PC as well. You need both installed for XP Mode like in the tutorial on the first page.

Please give more details if this is not what you meant. :)

How do I get rid of the wrong version of Windows Virtual PC?

It didn't install, so there's nothing to get rid of. You'll just need to install the correct 64-bit version now. :)

I can't. Whenever I download the 64-bit, it says that the update is not applicable.

I assume that's when you try to install the update? Is that the full error message?

What model number is your HP laptop? I'll look up the spec to see if it qualifies.

Check to make sure that you have hardware virtualization enabled in your BIOS/UEFI settings.

It is, and what I'm trying to do is to uninstall the 32-bit version (that I just accidentally installed) of Windows Virtual PC so I can install the 64-bit for Windows XP Mode to successfully setup for the first time. However, the control panel wouldn't give me the option to uninstall it. So I try delete the folder under Program Files (x86) in the C drive but it won't allow me because I must require permission from SYSTEM (whatever that is). Any options?

You do not find Virtual PC on the list of installed programs. It is a Windows Update (kb) and can be found on Installed Updates.

This is of course also told in the beginning of this tutorial:

Well this problem just keeps happening. I just did a clean reinstall of Windows 7 a week ago, had a frustrating time reinstalling most of the drivers. And it still happens. What in the hell should I do?

I have an HP Envy Dv7-7223cl notebook, with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit, 8 GB RAM, AMD A8-4500M with AMD Radeon 7640G HD graphics. Virtualization is enabled in BIOS. Copy of Windows is genuine. Installed correct version of Windows Virtual PC, uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Virtual PC and XP Mode, and the same dumb error keeps happening.
