You're welcome. It'll remove "Lock" from the locations specified in the tutorials. :)

HOW TO FIX ISSUE WITH LAPTOPS IN BATTERY MODE

In the registry where you put the ACSettingIndex you must also add DCSettingIndex

Both values should be set to 0.

Laptops on battery are running on DC power and windows differentiates this.

I simply experimented by putting in DCSettingIndex 0 to the registry and bam - sleep is disabled now whether or not I am plugged in.

This info should be added to the main thread!

Hello LordX, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Thank you for pointing this out. I have updated the tutorial to include that. Plus, it has been updated to be able to do the tutorial with REG file downloads so everyone doesn't have to manually do it anymore. :)

I can't enable Sleep again no matter what I try. The Regedit entry is blank. Any ideas?

    Hello Zuhl, :)

Try downloading the .reg file in step 2 again. Something may have interrupted it before. Here's the content of the .reg file below.

    Code:
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Power\PowerSettings\abfc2519-3608-4c2a-94ea-171b0ed546ab]

It's not working. I've been using this ASRock Z97 Killer for a few days while my MSI Z97 Gaming 7 is being RMA'd. I should have that back this week. No matter what this ASRock board won't shut down unless I flip the switch on the PSU. That might have something to do with it not being able to process the Registry file. This is what I have in Registry:

    Zuhl,

Your registry shows that you have successfully deleted the key to enable sleep from the .reg file, so there is something else wrong.

Please post a screenshot showing what you see in your shut down menu to see if it may help ID the issue.

As a test, does the sleep shortcut below work for you?

This is my shutdown menu. My system never sleeps by design. I can try the shortcut but I wouldn't know if it was working or not. Besides, when I shut down this motherboard my case fans, cold cathode tubes and H220 pumps keep running while the H220 radiator fans stop. I am trying to see if the Sleep being disabled is causing my mobo problems but it didn't affect my MSI board. Thanks for the quick replies. I have been using your mods and registry hacks for years. You run a great site and your tutorials are the best I have found.

Is there something not good about putting your computer to sleep?
