Hi, please can any one confirm this for me, I was told on another forum that it doesnt matter which version of win 7 you install because when you activate it the product key determines the version?

    Welcome to the forum,

Actually, the version you choose to install has to match the product key.

You can't install ultimate using a home premium key and vice-verse, you need to

choose the version that you have the product key for.

If that were true, there would be no need for different versions of install media.

This tutorial does unlock what makes each disc version specific, comes in handy

if you are doing a lot of installs of different versions.

You still need to choose the the version you have the key for.

    Welcome to the forum,

Do you mean before or after using the ei.cfg tool?

Have you tried the disc to see if you have the option to choose a version?

Are you looking in the sources folder?

Here's a snip of mine, it does not have the ei.cfg and it has Starter through Ultimate CLG files.

What kind of disk do you have?

What do you mean extracting the ISO? All you have to do is copy the disc to a folder.
