I'd like to remove the UAC shield on my desktop icons without removing the UAC functionality.
Is there a way to replace the shield image with a transparent ico file, so that the shield would effectively disappear?
If not, is there any other way to remove this shield without altering UAC...

well beside my icons on the desktop i have this wee CD thing. Its really annoying and takes up most of the icon. Any one know how to remove it ?

i thought this might be simple but this seems to be more complicated. I want to remove text from desktop icons. I tried Alt+255 or Alt+0160 but nothing happened its just the same. I'm using a laptop so turned on the numlock (F11) & then the numbers on the keyboard & not the number...
Is it possible to remove the labels that appear below the desktop icons? In other words, have only the icon display, no word or words below it? Thanks.
I would like to remove the Librariers and Homegroup icons from the desktop. Since they are not shortcuts, I do not want to delete them. Desktop Icon Settings does not allow for these two to be removed--the icons are not offered.
