    Hi Guys

I prefer to have my start menu folder items pointing to the libraries. The one that baffles me is the recorded tv library. Why does this point to users\public\libraries\recorded tv and not to libraries\recorded tv.How can I get this to point to C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries instead. Is this even possible.I dont use any public folders\libraries.

    Thanks Danny

    Hello Danny,

I'll look into that more tomorrow to see what I may be able to come up with, and post back if I find anything. :)

    Danny,

By default, there is only a C:\Users\Public\Record TV folder. This is because since this media is usually shared, it usually needs to be in the C:\Users\Public folder to be able to do so easily by default.

The only problem with getting the Record TV button in the Start Menu to open to C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries\Record TV, is that there is not a Record TV library folder at that location or a C:\User\(user-name)\Record TV folder as well to point it to.

Sure, you could create a new library for Record TV, but since there's not a C:\User\(user-name)\Record TV folder, you would only be able to include the C:\Users\Public\Record TV folder which is already the default folder Record TV button in the Start Menu opens to. There's really no point in creating a new library or changing the default open to path of the Record TV button in the Start Menu because of this.

Thanks for getting back to me Shaun

Was beginning to think it was an impossible task.I think I will just remove it from the start menu and create a library on its own or a sub library under videos for it.Should really have been an option though I may not want to share my movies lol

You could still do it, but you will have to create a new C:\Users\(user-name)\Recorded TV folder, a new Recorded TV library, include both the C:\Users\(user-name)\Recorded TV folder and C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV folder in the Recorded TV library, then set the default Save To folder to be the C:\Users\(user-name)\Recorded TV folder for the Recorded TV library first.

Afterwards, run the REG file below to change the Recorded TV Start Menu button to open to the newlibrary folder location with the path below in the REG file, then log off and log on to apply.

    %userprofile%\\AppData\\Roaming\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Libraries\\Recorded TV.library-ms

    Ok Shaun

Ive created a new recorded tv library and included my recorded tv folder on "d" and the public recorded tv "c" run the reg file and it is opening the library with the 2 locations but the properties box for the start menu rec tv still reads c:users\public\libraries. Is this correct. At the moment im opening a library from another library seems to work great though just the location tab not reading C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries\Record TV

Am i on the right track

Ok Danny. Try the new updated REG file above. This one should work perfectly now. :)

Sorry Shaun its still not changed the location.Dont know if this is anything but now the rec tv from the start menu opens up like a library menu with the 2 locations separate but the library rec tv opens up with the 2 locations merged, they were separate before

Edit-Scratch that there displaying fine just the location thats wrong
