Hello Xp4me,

I'm afraid that I couldn't find a way around Windows Photo Viewer playing them in the slide show alphabetically.

I would think all that's needed is some kind of explorer tweak tool that would add the (Arrange by) and (Modified) option to folders.

undo Fullrowsel before trying your solution?

Hi, Brink!
Just discovered this Forum by chance, while looking for a way to reorganize photos freely in W7. I wish I had long ago as it seems not only friendly but quite helpful and reactive.
Before finding this Forum, I found Fullrowsel and did all that was suggested but it doesnot seem to work.
Therefore, my question is: should I undo it before trying out your solution?
Many thanks

Hello Tirelire, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It depends on what method you used to enable full row select, but the .reg file below should undo it for you. Afterwards, you can use this tutorial.

(contents for reference)
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"FullRowSelect"=-

Thanks a lot for such a quick answer!
I just followed instructions, according to
How to Disable Full Row Select in Explorer in Windows 7? - The Winhelponline Blog
and
A fix for the multifile-selection glitch in Windows 7 and 8 - CNET

I do have the undo file and will work it out, before trying your solution.
I'll let you know about the results!

Thanks again/

Now, I did follow your instructions on
How to Disable Auto Arrange in Windows 7 Explorer to have Free Sorting

I can switch pictures (which, actually, I had done with fullrowsel), but it leaves an empty space, with picture added at the end of the row on the right. And if I want to add a legend (which is so easy in Picasa), I am invited to go through Photo Gallery, which is OK, except that in Photo Gallery the disable feature is gone!
Tough! even though I feel less at a loss thanks to this Forum.

Thanks again.

Yeah, it would have been nice if Microsoft had more options with this by default.

windows explorer my computer

Hey, this tweak you created helped me a lot over the past months organizing my files,
But I noticed that in my computer the progressbar that showed used space on a drive doesn't appear anymore...
Do you know how to fix that (see the two pictures attached)

Hello DeadShadow, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You'll just need to switch to Tiles view instead.

So I've just gone from Vista to Windows 7 and was wondering a few things: - In Vista's Windows Explorer you could change the order of files and then click Name or Date modified, etc at the top and it would arrange them in order again. I really loved this feature and find the Windows 7 instant...
