       Information
    This will show you how to be able to lock and unlock a folder with a password in Windows 7 without having to use any 3rd party software.

    Here's How:

    1. Create a new folder ( name it as you like ):

    2. Inside this folder make a ( TXT ) file & open it.

    3. Copy and paste this code inside the New Text Document:

    Code:

    Quote:
    Quote: cls
    @ECHO OFF
    title Folder Private
    if EXIST “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}” goto UNLOCK
    if NOT EXIST Private goto MDLOCKER
    :CONFIRM
    echo Are you sure you want to lock the folder(Y/N)
    set/p “cho=>”
    if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
    if %cho%==y goto LOCK
    if %cho%==n goto END
    if %cho%==N goto END
    echo Invalid choice.
    goto CONFIRM
    :LOCK
    ren Private “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
    attrib +h +s “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
    echo Folder locked
    goto End
    :UNLOCK
    echo Enter password to unlock folder
    set/p “pass=>”
    if NOT %pass%== password here goto FAIL
    attrib -h -s “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}”
    ren “Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}” Private
    echo Folder Unlocked successfully
    goto End
    :FAIL
    echo Invalid password
    goto end
    :MDLOCKER
    md Private
    echo Private created successfully
    goto End
    :End
    4. After u copy the Commanding go to the bold words (or try using shortcut- CTRL+F and type password to locate the line) u will find this word : password here (Change it with any password u like.) is :
    if NOT %pass%== example1234 goto FAIL

    //so your password here becomes example1234 .//
    5. After that go to Save as… & name this file as “locker.bat “. Be sure to change the “Save as type” from “text” to “All Files” :

    6. Now back to the folder & u will find a ( LOCKER ) commanding (locker.bat). Double Click on it & u will find a new folder (Private ):

    7. Now copy what u want in this “private Folder” & after that come out of the folder, and Double click on locker again. It will open and ask if you want to lock your folder? Y/N ?

    8. Type Y. your private folder will disappear.

    9. If you want to UNLOCK your folder ,go to (locker) & type your pass and you will see your private folder.

    10. Enter the password and hit “Enter”.

       Note

    It not only hides the folder, but hide all files… and try opening it without entering password, it will take you to the control panel.

    Also, if u want to store files on your Pen-Drive, u can use this script. No Software Required.

    In case u delete your Locker file (just in case), then u can make a new one (but with the same password) and open it from that.

    Alternatively, u can keep this locker file somewhere else, and when u want to open ur folder, only then bring it back to that place.

    Very nice tut. Shouldn't this belong in the tutorial section though?

    I'd love to try this out, but I think I will wait until a mod or coder approves it first. Its not that I don't trust you, its just that last time I configured a .bar file, it completely ruined my computer to the point where even my BIOS wouldn't work anymore >.<

    AssaultRifle : Thank you.

    Its always good to take a back up of the original file. The screenshots are from my own computer (I mean I did the things , when I wrote it). Yes, obviously you can wait for another person's approval. But, its an old thing actually (the code). What you said is not wrong, I have seen some people make codes and distributes them through blogs which has some suspicious codes. I posted another tutorial here , (How to run Silverlight in Opera browser), that was originally written by some one (the code), he deliberately inserted some extra strings and functions (so that it will point to other website). I modified that, removed the bug and posted here. Obviously, I gave no credit to the first person, because he created a malware.

    Its very sad fact that you have bad experience too. I can understand your condition, mate :)

    If Mods thinks, its appropiate, they will move it to tutorial. (I dont want to mess the fine section).

    Very interesting option for a folder only to lock. Someone was asking fews days ago about that manner.
    Do you mind me to link this post to him? Thanks.

    PS: Haven't tried yet.

    Works OK but you need to remember to store the "locker.bat" file safely away from the directory preferably on a thumb drive or else anyone can edit it using notepad to find the "password here" line and then open your "protected" file!!

    @non: I was not aware he asked for! I made this one for my own site nearly 3 weeks ago...just got the time today to post, before posting I made a search, saw that, someone was asking (thats why I wrote the lines before the tut). You can link anywhere. I will be glad if it comes to work for anyone. There is a way to hide a drive completely, I will post it here too.

    @wilywombat: not thought that, a nice bug to point out! Basically, its a primitive way to hide. As far I know, this process is known from Windows 95 days!

    Very interesting and creative way to do this without added software. I'm always a fan of using what you already have to get things done.
