Windows XP 32 bit on Windows 7 64 bit OS?
Hi all,
Can I install Windows XP Mode 32 bit on a Windows 7 64 bit OS? It would be great to have some compatibility for my old programs.
many thanks,
GodAtum

I believe the virtual windows XP is a 32bit version, and i have it running on my win7 x64 just fine. Able to connect with 32bit drivers too (main purpose for me is to sync my old palm m500)
I noticed it to be quite sluggish in performance though...
Many thanks for the reply. What spec is your machine? I'm hoping to get 6Gb of RAM and I have an Intel i7 920.
I'm hoping to use iTunes, IE8 with flash and Empire Total War on my XP VM as I'm not sure they will work with Windows 7 64 bit.
Hello GodAtum, and welcome to Seven Forums.
Yep, the XP virtual machine is 32-bit, but you need to install either the same 32-bit or 64-bit Windows XP Mode for the 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 that you are running.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
It really depends on how much horsepower your computer has to run both the XP virtual machine and your main host (Windows 7), but yeah it can be a bit slower since it is a virtual machine instead of a separate installation.
With you having 3GB of RAM total, that can slow you down depending on how much Memory you have assigned to the VM in the VM settings and left for the host..
