More Environments for VPC in WIN7

    Hey all,

There are many things you can do with VPC, I have XP, Win2k Server and Server2003. Will can only download XP and have to "install" the others, I know other people have gotten other OS to work too.

Check out these areas for more information its all been writen out so I wont repeat it.

Yes, it is possible. If you can bear with me for a short while, I'll respond a bit later with details. I'm at work now and don't have access to a Windows 7 machine.

Back at home, and on Prometheus.

Back on topic, to install other operating systems into virtual pc, do the following:
    1. Click the Start Orb
    2. Click "All Programs"
    3. Click "Windows Virtual PC"
    4. Click "Virtual Machines"
    5. Click "Create virtual machine", then follow on-screen instructions.
    6. Right-click the newly created virtual machine to adjust advanced settings
    7. Select the "DVD Drive" option. Either access a physical drive, or mount an ISO image. If you use the physical drive, insert your OS boot install disc into you drive.
    8. Double-click to start the virtual machine
    9. Follow the usual routine for installing an OS

    another question.
Does WVPC support 64bit virtual OS? I'm looking around in the options but can't seem to find it. Looks like i gonna have to download the 32-bit version.

As far as I know, VPC currently only supports 32-bit operating systems.

One of my favourite new features though is the ability to use USB devices in the virtual environment. I haven't played much with it yet, but I'm hoping I'll be able to use my Canon Lide 20 scanner (for which I cannot get 64-bit drivers) inside Windows XP Mode. I'll be checking this out later today when I get back from work.
