VHD works, but gone after reboot?

I followed the turorial and tried three or four times to make a VHD and it works but upon re-booting my PC the VHD I created is gone. I can get it back by re-attaching it but reboot and it's gone again.

Oh my Bios is set up correctly in case any one asks.

The tutorial you refer to does not cover the problem described. I also have a problem with disappearing VHD's. After several attempts, appearing successful at first, the drive disappears after a system reboot. The VHD file then remains on the mapped drive and cannot be deleted, using up valuable disc space. Any clues as to why the drive would be disappearing? I have followed the installation instructions to the letter.

The tutorial you mentioned did say this Warning:
The VHD is only attached for the current session. When you restart the computer, any attached VHD files you have will no longer be attached and appear in Computer. You will have to reattach any VHD file to have it display back in the Computer window again until the next restart.

If you want to boot with a VHD, refer to these tutorials:

Thanks for that. I need a permanent VHD so that's not going to won't work for me. My problem now is that I can't delete the .vhd files from my network drive. They are in use by a process, but I don't know which one. Have tried using safe mode and command prompt. Any ideas?

Thanks again Ken, But the drive is not available to Unattach. It is neither visible in the Computer Management Window or My Computer. Only the files remain on my mapped drive.

Thank you also logicearth, however I just want to delete the file created on my network mapped drive because it is taking up 10 GB of space. It cannot be reattached and needs to be deleted. The file is in use by some process which is not allowing deletion.

I wasn't trying to help you solve your problem, Gleeno10. I was trying to solve the original posters problem. I don't know about your issue.
