Couple of Virutal questions

I have been playing around with Windows XP Mode and VMWARE Player. I have read alot of posts here but it seems the more I read the confused I get. So here we go. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

1) I created a VM with VMware player and installed windows 7 on it. I gave it a 1 GB or RAM and a 60 GB HD. It is slow though. It looks like it using alot of CPU just to process Webpage requests. Videos are choppy. Is there a way to improve it. My pc has a AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual core processor 4600+ 2.41GHZ.

2) I have a PC that is dual booted. Windows xp installed first and then I added Windows 7. Is it possible to create a virutal using a system image backup that I took of the my pc ? I saw alot of posts for myOLDPC that would make changes for XP boot issues buy I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

With the Windows 7 machine under VMWare player, did you install the VMware tools in the guest? If you did not, go into Virtual Machine at the top of the screen and choose Install VMWare Tools. Within the VM, it should appear as if a cd was inserted and you can run setup and install the tools.

You could use the standalone VMWare Converter application to capture your XP or Windows 7 physical machine and convert it into a virtual machine. This would require another machine however to run the converter onto and capture the resulting vmdk file.

VMware tools is already installed. I tried installing a couple of games that my kids and wife use and some work fine, some, not so much. I am going to try the compatiability mode and see if that makes a difference.

I will take a look at the VMware converter and see what I can do with that.
