XP Mode Autologon credentials are lost after Windows 7 password change

When the old Windows 7 password expires, the user has to change it during the normal logon. The problem is that after this type of the password change the saved XP Mode autologon credentials are removed from Windows 7 Windows Vault Generic Credentials group. As a consequence the user gets a prompt to enter the XPMUser password whenever he/she starts the virtual application.

Please help if anyone has an idea on how to fix this

    Welcome Antanasz to the forums.

You will need to go into the xp mode and change the password on the xpmuser to agree with your regular
logon user in order for it to not ask for the password.

    Dear Rich,

thank you very much for the prompt reply. The point is, that Windows 7 users on the machines in question are not supposed to know the XPMUser password. The Windows 7 machines in question run in rather restricted mode in which restricted windows 7 user is only allowed to run just one virtual application.
Perhaps the solution could be to automate the Windows Vault backup and recovery, but that is unfortunately beyond my competence.
In any case I find it not normal that in Windows Vault saved credentials are lost when the user changes her/his logon password in a very standard way.

    Best regards
