Problem with ? turning into / in XP Mode.

Odd problem here. Our receipt printer only works in XP Mode (32 bit drivers only) so we run our POS software in XP Mode. Everything works great except that when you swipe a credit card (USB magnetic card reader that acts as a keyboard) the numbers end with a / instead of a ?

On the Win7 side the data is inputted correctly.

I can't figure out what changes between Win7 and XP mode.

If I hold shift down while swiping the card it ends with the ?, but that of course messes up the rest of the characters.

    Any idea?

    Thanks!

I was able to solve this problem by downloading
Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4 and mapping the /? key to ??.

Now the only way to make a / is the num pad, but that beats inputting all those credit cards manually.

    Thanks for looking

Just one suggestion - what happens if you map ? -> / and also map / -> ? thus swapping the shifted and unshifted key mapping - if this works it will give you a usable system

Then you just turn the key upside down

    Good suggestion, BarMan.

    Excellent suggestion BarMan! Works perfect.

Haha I considered, but stopped short of flipping the key LiquidSnak.
