    virtual PC reads encyrpted files

I am trying to understand the mechanism for this. I encyprted some files in folder on my d drive.

I created a virtual windows xp machine. when i navigated to that folder from the xp virtual machine, i was able to open the encyprted files. i thought xp system was independant of the windows 7 sytem

The files are able to be decrypted because it goes though the host system via Remote Desktop.
