Thinapp - for creating portable applications

    Hi everyone,

I am interested in Thinapp application and virtualization using VMWare Workstation. I did some work on this.

Cameyo | Free Application Virtualization is a free alternative to thin app, both are pretty good programs though.

I seriously doubt that you will be able to thinapp workstation itself (and make it work). However, using thinapp inside workstation with a clean vm is definetely the way to go.

I do not mean I want to make a portable application of VMWare Workstation using Thinapp.

My goal is in learning to create different portable applications using Thinapp and exchange these ideas with a group of like- minded people. Thinapp can be better used inside a VM in VMWare Workstation with it's snapshot feature again and again.

But you have given me an idea! Why not I try to make a portable application of VMWare Workstation using Thinapp inside VM....

A thinapped workstation is possible to create, but the functionality you expect will not be there (I tried several years ago). End of the story is it will not work.

VMware ESX 4 can even virtualize itself

Till now I did not get this idea. Whether I succeed or not, let me give it a try virtualizing VMWare Workstation 7.1.1 using Thinapp 4.6.2.

No harm in trying... If I succeed, I will post the results...
