It appears the vmlite.com website is down or is being redirected to a travel website
Yes, Yahoo's DNS really sucked big time over last couple of days. Not sure what happened, it either times out, or gives an invalid ip address.

    VMLite website still not accessible

Just tried again and I'm still directed to a Travel website.

On a related note, I am currently using Virtualbox 3.1.12 on a Win7 host and tried to use VMlites' XPmode but unfortunately the installation never completes. Could this be because I already have a vbox running?

    Thanks

found a possible solution on the Vmlite forum:

You can do following to install vmlite and VirtualBox together.

    (1) Install VMLite first

    (2) Install VirtualBox

    (3) If you want to use VMLite, go to c:\program files\VMLite\VMLite Workstation, then run the following in cmd window. You can put them into a .bat file:

    VBoxSVC.exe /ReregServer
    regsvr32 /s /u VBoxC.dll
    regsvr32 /s VBoxC.dll
    copy Drivers\VBoxDrv\VBoxDrv.sys c:\windows\system32\drivers

    (4) if you want to run VirtualBox, go to VirtualBox install folder, usually, c:\program files\Sun\VirtualBox

then run the same command as in (3)

You may need to reboot the host if not working

I installed the latest version 3.1.2 on windows 7 ultimate 64-bit laptop, It causes lot of freeze. I have to powercycle the system by pushing the button. Never had problems with old version 3.1.0_OSE.

IS there a upgrade option available from 3.1.0 to 3.1.2 without breaking the exiting setup. Tried it first install went fine, but when I tried to open vmliste xp mode, it tried to create a new VM instead of opening the existing vm.

For now, you will have to uninstall the old version, then install the new version.

but your old VMs should work fine with new version. You can launch VMLite Workstation from Start menu, and your old VMs should appear on the left, and you can start the vm.

You don't have to use the wizard to create a new vm.

Thanks for using VMLite XP Mode (1st month stats)

    Hi All,

VMLite has been released for a month now. Thanks for the warm receivings from all of you.

Over the 1st month of the release, we have gained more than 12,000 registered users. VMLite software has been downloaded from our site more than 20,000 times. The total number of XPM virtual machines created during this time is close to 50,000.

Thanks for using our software, and we need your supports in the future. We will continue to make VMLite one of the best virtual machine engines.

Our next phase focus will be on VMLite's unique features, to create a vm instantly, without using any OS CDs or XPM package. Everyone will be able to use VMLite as a secure running environment. We will aslo try to push out VMLite Virtual Appliances, that allow a group of pre-configured Windows applications to run anywhere without any installation.

I urge you to spread VMLite to your friends, to your peers, so more people can use our free software.

    Thanks,

    Dr. Huihong Luo

A lot of people in this thread are wondering how VMLite company could do this.. I am also. They are coming out with a commercial version.. if it is also is based on the open source version of Sun's Virtual Box, then that would be stealing. The open source lisence does not allow for that.

If that were true, I could download any open source product and change a few things and sell it as if it were my own.

XP Mode is intended for Win 7 users, yet this company is telling everyone (even people who did not pay for Windows 7) they can download and use a free fully licened copy of windows XP on any machine - this sounds like stealing to me.

I have contacted both Sun Microsystems and Microsoft's licensing division to see if either of them thinks there are any legal problems with this company and it's VMLite free and commercial software products. I will post back when they reply.

Don't be surprised if this company suddenly goes Poof.

Don't get me wrong, I like the product and wish it happy success but only if everything is on the up and up.
