I am trying to install SBS 2008 Premium (x64) in VPC 2007 on my Windows 7 x64 Professional computer, All is running well, but when i load the iso from within the VPC I have this mesage:

Attempting to load a 64 bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64 bit mode

Any thoughts / assistance would be appreaciated

Hello BSM and welcome to the SevenForums.

Even you download and install Virtual PC 64-bit version, you can only run 32-bit guests on it. Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V is to my knowledge the only Microsoft Virtual Environment where you can run 64-bit guest OS or software.

You need Sun VirtualBox or WMWare to run 64-bit OS or software on a virtual machine.

BTW, I forgot to tell you about the new Virtual PC and Virtual XP Mode. Nothing wrong with VPC 2007, but if you want you can download the latest version of VPC here. From the same site you can download Virtual XP Mode.

Kari is right. Not 64-bit guests on any MS Hypervisor except for HyperV and HyperV R2

Oh, I might add that SBS 2008 is only 64 bit because it contains Exchange 2007, which is only available in 64 bit.
