Virtualbox screen resolution and small size

In a Windows 7 host laptop, I've installed Linux Mint 13 as a Guest VM.

The Guest's screen appears full size (though not the sharpest resolution) on initial startup, but after restarting the VM, the screen size has shrunk to only about 70% of the monitor, and there is only one choice for monitor resolution (800x600, too low).

This problem wasn't helped by installing the Guest Additions also (by clicking on the VM menu, which puts the CD on the desktop, then running the *.run file via Terminal), nor by downloading Mint updates.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thanks

Welcome to Seven Forums WWJD. I don't use Virtual Box but a quick Google brought up these answers from Ubuntu Forum

wwjd, Have you tired installing a different OS and see if you have the same issue, or update the program, i assume your using Virtual Box or VMware Player ?

Otherwise i would also suggest installing the guest tools, But as i've read - looks like you tried with no success

If you have guest additions installed correctly you can drag the window to any size you like.
