    Uninstall Corrupted Windows XP Mode

I have been using XPMode for a couple of years without serious problems. Today when I tried to open it I received this Problem Notice - "Windows XP Mode 1 could not be restored because one of the virtual hard disks could not be located. Make sure that all the virtual hard disk files of this virtual machine are present in the configured location." I am not knowledgeable about the virtual hard disk files or where to find them therefore cannot make sure they are present in the configured location. I first tried to uninstall the program through Programs and Features but files in Windows 7 Programs Files were not removed nor could I delete them. I found information on the web that indicated they could be removed by taking possession which I did and they were removed. I then reinstalled Windows XPMode but when I then tried to open the program I got the exact same notification as in the beginning. On this site I read that one correspondent searched out the virtual files that included XPMode. I do not know how to do this. Any help on how to proceed will be appreciated.

    Hi,
I'm not sure because only recently I'v tried out xpmode but I think the "virtual hard disk" is the file "Windows XP Mode.vmcx" (in C:\Users\your user account\Virtual Machines) or the file "Windows XP Mode.vhd" (in C:\Users\your user account\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines).

    EDIT:
just checked the size of the files...and it must be the "Windows XP Mode.vhd" one

thanks Angelfirex for your post. I finally solved my dilemna when I found the file I needed was hidden by windows. After finding the procedure to display the file and obtaining needed permissions I was able to delete the virtual drive files and reinstall xpmode. My post was on the board for about two weeks and your post was the only one I received. I don't understand why I didn't get helpful responses sooner than yours but again thanks for your attempt.
