ok. my mind is spinning. i'll get back. thxThe tutorial Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup is to set up the free, pre-installed Windows XP Mode virtual machine, which as you have been told you cannot use as you have the Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows XP Mode requires Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise edition of Windows 7.Somehow, unless I'm blind, there is conflicting instructions with step 4. I clicked on the link Brink set forth, and it is different.
Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup
This asks me to open click "windows xp mode", but is actually in step 5
Getting mixed up with installing xp mode and virtual machine
I'll muddle my way through it. thx
The tutorial I have been asking you to read and have referred to since the post number 3 in this thread is Windows Virtual PC - Create Virtual Machine
Two totally different tutorials. As long as you are not upgrading your Windows 7 to Professional or Ultimate, you should simple forget the XP Mode setup tutorial and follow the instructions on the one that I have been referring to.
