wanted to attempt using "magic disk" to create the iso file. Downloaded that program and it would not open. Still wondering if there is something up with that "desktop ini" file on my desktop. Like it is outta place?

Then the disks are damaged. To either create an ISO or install from CD, you need a working XP disk.

No, it means it should be OK, but it is not what your previous post said.
Let me just check I have understood you correctly. You do the things in this order:
- Insert the XP install CD to any CD/DVD drive, check what drive letter it has
- Start creating a virtual machine as told in the tutorial, step 4 onwards
- When you reach the steps 13 and 14 in the tutorial, you do what I told in my earlier post and select Access a physical drive thereafter selecting the correct drive, the same that has your XP install CD in

interesting....when I double click vmcx file that I created...the virtual pc starts to read the disk, and it goes into what wants to install xp. I hibernated it as I do not know wut is going on.

1st error of this entire setup. In step 4, I never had "virtual machines" in that window. So I then clicked on "virtual windows XP" and then it took me to the next step 5.

Looks like you did not read the tutorial.
Start the virtual machine again, you hibernated it just when the virtual machine was created and it was starting to install the operating system. Install XP totally normally to your new virtual machine, exactly as you would do it on any physical computer.

Somehow, unless I'm blind, there is conflicting instructions with step 4. I clicked on the link Brink set forth, and it is different.

This asks me to open click "windows xp mode", but is actually in step 5
Getting mixed up with installing xp mode and virtual machine

The tutorial Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup is to set up the free, pre-installed Windows XP Mode virtual machine, which as you have been told you cannot use as you have the Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows XP Mode requires Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise edition of Windows 7.
The tutorial I have been asking you to read and have referred to since the post number 3 in this thread is Windows Virtual PC - Create Virtual Machine
Two totally different tutorials. As long as you are not upgrading your Windows 7 to Professional or Ultimate, you should simple forget the XP Mode setup tutorial and follow the instructions on the one that I have been referring to.
I am not asking you to do as I tell you, I have no rights to do that. Instead I am simply asking you at least to read the answers you have got to your questions.
