VMware Player is the best you can get. But you need to upgrade your RAM. 4GB would be a good size. There is really no other free option besides vBox and VMware Player.

Running Windows 7 in 1.5GB for the host and the guest is tight. It will run but it may be slow. If your guest system is a Linux distro, then you can go with 2GB for the host and 1GB for the Linux guest. That will work fine.
