    HP Hash Request

    Hello
The server once a week start to making a loud whirling noise - and that hangs up the system. I then reboot to fix. I then contacted HP for help on this VM server. HP tech wants this pasted below and I don't know how to run the 'hash'. Let me know how to go about generating the report, thanks!
    Their comment:

The report which you had reported seems to be from a virtual server. It did not capture any report from the hardware itself. If you have VMware installed on the server, please try generating the VMsupport logs and upload it in the same ftp dropbox. I am providing the steps for generating the VMsupport logs for your reference.

The vm-support utility is inbuilt in the Vmware Operating system.

    1. At the OS hash prompt type 'vm-support' (e.g # vm-support).

    2. Allow a coupe of minutes for the report file to be generated.

    3. Collect the report file. The report file in .tgz format will be stored in the same location as where the command was run from.

You may also go ahead and update the firmware and drives for your ML350 G4 server using the web link which was provided earlier.

Parvardigar, our VMware servers when you login, give you the # prompt instead of the c:\ prompt.

As long as your logged on as root or SU.. it is like a unix/Linux/VMware prompt...
