I am not using v p and I don't need support in it as I am not interested it ( personal choice).

If you are Virtual PC expert and have the time to help others, herewith below some cases waiting for you!

Can not install Virtual PC
Win7 -> VirtualPC -> Win7 -> Windows can't communicate with the device
Windows XP Mode wont work.
Cannot install Windows Virtual PC
Resolution goes back to 640x480 when restarting the OS
Can't attach USB or see printer in XP mode
Problem installing prolific 2303 drivers in virtual xp mode
XP Mode using update and Virtual Machine is slow
XP Mode Integration Features not enabled.
XP mode and scanner MUSTEK 1200USB
virtual pc will not connect
Win XP Mode runs slow
XP-mode crashes when opening \\tsclient\C or other Win7 disks

You really do not take it well when you are told you are wrong?

Let me summarize this:

• Your response to original post was in no way helping, did not answer the OP's question
• Recommending a paid for solution instead of a free one is not a solution in this case (VirtualBox and a paid (valid) XP license instead of free XP Mode on Virtual PC)
• Not a single one of the 13 links on your last post works. Please fix them
• About those 13 threads behind your non-working links, only two had anything to do with installing Virtual PC, and I have helped to solve both of those (both were typical user errors, nothing wrong with Virtual PC)
• The rest of those threads are also solved
• Check the virtualization section again, all threads. There are far more threads about issues with VirtualBox and VMware products than threads about issues with installing Virtual PC and / or XP Mode
• Oracle VM and VirtualBox are not the same thing, as you stated in your first post. Oracle VM means Oracle VM Server which for normal private user is not a good solution to run virtual machines. It is a completely different product than Oracle VirtualBox

- You are not the right person to judge if its helping or not, only the person who is having the issue and any member or guest.

As another member, I conclude that your posting does not help the OP. His original question is specifically about Windows Virtual PC, so we should keep to the topic and address his concerns.

You really do not take it well, I see.

I will try to write it so simple that even you could understand it:

It is not accepted by Microsoft, in other words it is not legal, to use Windows XP Mode virtual machine on anything else than Windows Virtual PC running on a Windows 7 Professional or better host. Using Disk2VHD or any other tool to transform it, port it to another virtualization platform, is against the End User License agreement.

When the question is "Can I delete this Virtual PC vhd file?", the answer is most definitely not "Use VirtualBox". When OP (and you) were then told that Windows XP can be used without a paid for product key and license on Virtual PC but not on VirtualBox (the free Windows XP Mode versus a self obtained XP install media), you again posted a nonsense post telling that VirtualBox does not need a license. Again, no answer to issue we are talking about.

Whilst we are dicussing this matter, I'd like your views on the following:

Assume you have a legal Windows OS product key that was never used. With that key you install that OS under VMware Player (or vBox). Then you move the VMware Folder to another PC and run the OS under VMware (or vBox) control on that PC.

Theoretically you never installed the OS directly on any physical PC and VMware Player (or vBox) has become the host for the OS. I wonder whether the EULA allows moving that VMware installation folder around to several PCs. I know it works, but is it legal?

Interesting query Wolfgang. This is my take and I'm just guessing without reading a huge EULA. Since VM is a machine although virtual, it would be considered a single machine so is legal even if the host is different. One of those gray areas maybe.
