Android x86 in VMware Player - no network

I installed Android in VMware Player. Works quite well but I cannot get a network connection. I don't have that problem with my other 6 Linux and Windows virtual systems.

Anybody know how to get the network connection going because Android without the connection is really dull. Also how to get a bigger screen. There is nothing of the kind in Settings.

Just googling - "Android x86 in VMware Player" comes up with links for networking not working. Have you tried all the suggestions there?

It was Android 4.2 X86. Got it to work in VMware Player. But then I had a problem on reboot. It is supposed to work better in Virtual Box but I have not tried that yet. Installation is as usual but for the internet you have to modify the .vmx file (in WMware Player version).

Thanks Derek. If I can't do any better in VMware Player, I will try that. In VMware player it worked well too, there was just a problem with the reboot. But I think I know now how to fix that - maybe. I first have to make a new installation.

You're welcome, I was just playing around to see how easy the network setup was, no modifying of files needed in that guide.

Yeah, I saw that. It is an advantage although the modification was a 2 minute job. No big deal and it worked well. I used vBox for years and I always had little gremlins with it. That's why I prefer VMware Player that never gave me any problems.
