    Integration + credentials issue..pls help

Hi. Have just installed Win7 Professional 64 bit and have been playing around with Virtual PC.

I think my problem is possibly due to the fact i couldnt install the xp download (it didnt give me a proper file to install).

I install the VPC anyway and have installed xp and vista from my own disks (am just experimenting before you ask why vista... )

All seemed well, all working and getting appropriate updates etc.

I decided to add integration to access my main drives for file access and am being asked to enter my credentials, but am failing every time.

I have read a few sites and found that i needed to set one up first :

Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\Credential Manager

Have done this, rebooted, but still having the same issue. Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas as i am really stuck.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

It should install just fine if you follow the proper order. First, you must download the Virtual XP Mode. This file is about 500mb. Install it. Then you download the Virtual PC msu which is much smaller and actually not called Virtual PC at all, but is called Windows6.1 KB958559. Install that one, reboot and you should be good to use your XP mode. You can download both here: Make sure to get the 64 bit version since you are running a 64 bit OS. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx

I tried this first. Am not sure if its linking to the wrong file, but it was an "iconless" (no picture) file and failed the install. It def was 64 bit version i chose.

Have just got 32bit ultimate, so am gonna re-install and try again.

Doing it the "correct" way, are you still able to add other virtual machines? And is the xp thats downlaoded identical in every way to an original disk version?

    Thanks for your help :)
