XP Mode problems with Trinity APU after Bulldozer fix

As mentioned in earlier thread, can not change mem size from 512. And now finding other problems with Access97/Word97 Mail Merge. This works fine on my Intel laptop with same XP Mode and same Windows Virtual Machine, so guessing it's an APU problem. Have applied the MS Hotfix 4030158 for Bulldozer; without it, XP Mode would not complete installation. Any thoughts? Just built this new Win7 desktop with XP Mode for the single legacy app that's not practical to convert...

Compatibility mode doesn't solve my Access97/Word97 Mail Merge Automation problems. XP Mode on my Intel laptop does work for this situation. I'm guessing it's the APU since there was a known Bulldozer problem; don't know for sure. Don't know if it's XP Mode that's the problem or Windows Virtual PC or both. Think the Bulldozer hotfix was for XP Mode, but may be something for the MS VM too. dunno. Would running XP Mode under VMware player work? Again, dunno yet.

Update #1. Restored system to before XP Mode + VPC. Installed XP Mode & VMware player. This time when I tried to install the Bulldozer patch, it said Not Applicable to this CPU, so assuming patch was actually for VPC & not XP Mode. But sadly, still get same Access97/Word97 error. Next test: VMware player + trial version of XP.
