Windows XP Mode wont install on Windows 7 pro 64bit

I have been trying to install Virtual PC and want to use XP mode for college work. I install Virtual PC using Windows 6.1 KB958559-x64 update and that installs no problem but when I try to install XP mode the program runs all the way to the end and then says the program did not install correctly try again, there are two versions of XP mode WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe and WindowsXPMode_N_en-us.exe I have tried both of these but with the same result. I have ran the hardware-assisted virtualization detection tool and everything is fine and checked my bios and this is enabled, I had this installed last year with no problems at all but since then I have changed my HDD to a Hybrid could this be my problem?

    Hi there

Go for VMWARE PLAYER and install a full XP Virtual Machine. Vmplayer is far superior in every way to Virtual PC (and runs on Windows 8.1 if you ever make the move). Performance is far superior and the XP virtual machine runs on ANY version of W7 including Home premium). Vm player is free.

Here's the direct official (VMware) link The release is actually 6.03.

    https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/fre...are_player/6_0

If you don't have a separate XP install CD to create the VM from you can use / extract the XP system from XP MODE.

Here's how to do it (although it says Windows 8 it works for W7 too).

It's already at SP3 level too (serial number included as well - legit - from the file not a generic one so won't be blocked).

How to Run Windows XP for Free in Windows 8

BTW I'd UNINSTALL virtual PC too.

    Cheers

    Does not work

All the instructions in your link "how to run XP" where for virtualbox not Vmware player so I could not get this to work, so I tried virtualbox but still no luck, I will try again but it was just starting to frustrate me so I gave up for now but thankyou for your help and I will let you know if I ever get it to work.

    Cheers.

Jimbo I found an old copy of XP that I had forgot that I had still with a key so I used that with VMware and that worked perfectly so a big thanks as I would have never thought to use that software and it is a lot better than Virtual PC. The other way was doing my head in so I am glad I got it sorted.
