XP Mode drive letters for local/network drives

Fresh XP Mode install following Brink's tutorial. Integration enabled. Can see local Win 7 D & E drives plus Win 7 mapped network S drive as network styled driveletter on machinename using XP Mode Explorer. What I want to do is assign a drive letter to each within XP Mode. "dir \\machinename\driveletter" does not work, so can't use net use. Explorer Tools - Map Network Drive can't see anything in the Workgroup, so maybe I need something turned on? Gosh, this has got to be a super common thingy. One would think I'd be able to google it right up...
