Win XP Product Key Number-How to find it

    Greetings,

I have a Win XP disc that I purchased with a computer some time ago. I have purchased a number of Win XP computers over the years. I can't seem to find the product ID. I want to install it a a virtual machine on Win 7.

Any idea on how to get the product ID?

    Thank you.

If the OS is installed you can try Belarc - System Management For The Internet Age. Software license management, IT asset management, IT security audits and more.. If it is not installed, it should be in the package the Disk came in.

I`ve installed XP in a Virtual Machine dozens of times, ok maybe not dozens, and it`s never asked for a product ID.

Your key is on the PC the disc came with, they use to give you a disc in the old days.

No key is ever written on the disc.

If you buy/bought windows it is on the packaging on the peel off COA, or on a label on the jewel case. Vista and Windows 7 for example.

The Install Disk doesn't, the VMWare/Vbox program does. You have to activate even in a VM.
