XPmode runs different with new Inteli72600CPU

For years I have been running Lotus123 with XPMode on a Dell Inspiron 560 with an Intel Core2 E7500 and it functions seamlessly just as if it were a program rather than a separate machine, with only one set of files for MY DOCUMENTS and MY PICTURES etc. with the ability to save LOTUS files to any Folder as a
    File etc.
I recently upgraded to a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 990 with an Intel i7d-2600 3.40GHZ CPU and was directed to install XPMode using downloaded MS Virtual Machine software. It works and I can run LOTUS in the XPMode but I have to switch to the XP mode, work on my LOTUS files and save them to the XPMode MY DOCUMENTS Folder but the saved files DO NOT show up in the MY DOCUMENT folders in i7 Mode. Its is VIRTUALLY two machines rather than a ONE machine operation like it was with my old computer (above).
Does anyone know if there is a way to make my updated computer/processor operate like the old one did for LOTUS123 files that I create and save?

This will explain how to share the main Windows 7 hard drive with your XP Mode session:

If you run your XP programs in "integrated" mode rather than in "windowed" mode, they should run straight out of Windows 7, without your having to load the VM. But I'm not familiar with how to do that.

    Thanks

Don't understand all that is required but I will work on it and see if I can get the desired results.
