XPmode runs different with new Inteli72600CPU

For years I have been running Lotus123 with XPMode on a Dell Inspiron 560 with an Intel Core2 E7500 and it functions seamlessly just as if it were a program rather than a separate machine, with only one set of files for MY DOCUMENTS and MY PICTURES etc. with the ability to save LOTUS files to any Folder as a
File etc.
I recently upgraded to a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 990 with an Intel i7d-2600 3.40GHZ CPU and was directed to install XPMode using downloaded MS Virtual Machine software. It works and I can run LOTUS in the XPMode but I have to switch to the XP mode, work on my LOTUS files and save them to the XPMode MY DOCUMENTS Folder but the saved files DO NOT show up in the MY DOCUMENT folders in i7 Mode. Its is VIRTUALLY two machines rather than a ONE machine operation like it was with my old computer (above).
Does anyone know if there is a way to make my updated computer/processor operate like the old one did for LOTUS123 files that I create and save?

Linux Mint 18.2 xfce 64-bit (VMWare host) / Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit (VMWare guest)

This will explain how to share the main Windows 7 hard drive with your XP Mode session:

If you run your XP programs in "integrated" mode rather than in "windowed" mode, they should run straight out of Windows 7, without your having to load the VM. But I'm not familiar with how to do that.

Don't understand all that is required but I will work on it and see if I can get the desired results.

WDC Green: 750 GB runs Hot, 4 TB runs Cool ???
I have two external hard drives, both in Vantec NexStar3 USB enclosures. The older 750 GB WDC Green drive runs HOT to the touch, the 4 TB, and the 2 TB before that, run pretty warm but never hot. Why might this be, and would that much heat cause earlier than necessary drive failure?

Computer runs really slow in normal mode, but runs fine in safe mode
I recently re-formatted my Sony VAIO since it was starting to run super slow. Now that I re-installed Windows 7 on it through recovery disks, it worked fined for about a day but then the problem came back. The computer is slow at bootup and runs super slow while freezing so many times. I am running...

Which IE to use with XPMode?
By default it has IE6 which is of course outdated and I notice in the windows update IE8 is hidden. Is it safe to use IE8 with XPmode or should I get IE7 instead? Makes me wonder why IE8 is hidden by default. On Win7 64 bit exactly what XP version is XPmode 32 or 64 bit? it does not state and...
XPmode or Virtualbox
Just a few questions regarding XPmode am I right in thinking that it's just a modified windows virtual machine with an xp licence? I'm needing a virtual machine to run some older programs needing 32bit XP. I also would like to be able to play some of my older games which have pretty low hardware...
