Cannot freely browse in XP Mode

Using Internet Explorer 6, I seem to be able to browse to any HTTP site, but generally not HTTPS sites (with the exception of the one site I've been able to reach, https://192.168.1.1─the secured router); I can't even upgrade to a newer version of IE trying to see if that would let me get to HTTPS sites. Would like to install my favored broswer─and, of course be able to freely browse the internet from XP Mode.
I have set set the adapter to the same as that of the host machine and can browse any HTTP site (which are very few these days).

Can you not run IE6 in a VM using Linux?

    I hope this helps!

Which VM software are you using? What is preventing you from downloading a browser on your host and copy/paste that installer to your guest?

The reason why many secure sites don't work is probably due to HSTS. HTTP Strict Transport Security - Wikipedia Or it's something else now I can't remember.

With older OSs and browsers, Internet suffering will be very hard to do in this day and age with updated TLS implementations and webcode.

Here's the Firefox stub that might just work to download and install Firefox.
