How to not auto connect to USB

Ok so I am using Virtualbox and want to connect USB flash drives or my phone to the operating system in virtualbox without windows 7 automatically connecting to it. Is that possible?

I don't think so since it's the host that has to see the USB device prior to the guest taking it over.

Keep in mind that I've read USB emulation in Virtual Box isn't that great. You might want to give the free VMware Workstation Player a try. This is what I have used for over ten years.

That is what I was afraid of. If i turn on the USB in Vbox Vbox will see it first but once i go to remove from Vbox my host sees it and i have to disconnect there to lol I thought about VMware but what i read and watched it was not as easy to use for computer ignorant like me. How does it work in VMware?

When you launch VMware Player there will be the devices at the top right. Just click the device to activate it in VMware Player.

Well I think i stumbled across my own answer today. Or a way that will work. I found under device manger there is a way to shut off caches where i can unplug a USB any time rather then having to eject it in windows. I only found that out trying to help a relative get photos off there phone. I plugged it into the computer but once i was done there was no eject for it. After searching all over i found a video showing things to check and one of them was device manager and turning the cache back on. It says if i turn cache off i can just unplug anytime but data will transfer slower.
