Windows 7 laggy and slow in virtualbox

I installed Windows 7 in virtualbox 2 or 3 days ago.I used it successfully. But there's just a big problem here.Whenever I open up a program it takes ages to to completely load it.Mouse is laggy and when I type in like youtube's or file explorer's search box it takes 8 seconds to just load one letter.I tried giving the vm 4GB of RAM but there was no change.I of course gave it 2 cores of my CPU too.But nothing seems to work.I installed Virtualbox Guest Additions CD Image but still nothing changed.I tried updating my drivers but they were up to date.Literally nothing works If anybody has and idea on how to fix this I would be very happy if you could reply. Thanks for your help!

Hello Madlad, welcome to the Forum.

Is the virtual disk fully allocated or dynamically allocated? How big is the disk space?

How big is the Pagefile on the Windows 7 instillation? Is the pagefile managed by the OS (default), or is it a custom size?

This doesn't answer your question, but I don't use Virtualbox because I had nothing but issues with it. I use VMware's Workstation Player which is free and most of the time it just works and has great USB emulation.

Is the virtualization option on in your BIOS/ UEFI?

Workstation player is no longer free. It costs $150 which isn't much less than workstation pro. Virtualbox has their own forum.

Wrong, it's still free unless you're a commercial entity. Download VMware Workstation Player | VMware

That's an older version although not out of date. I didn't find a free option for the latest version.

That's news to me because it says right there on the website,

The free version is available for non-commercial, personal and home use. We also encourage students and non-profit organizations to benefit from this offering.
The "new version" could be the commercial version that you looked at.

    Now here's a shocker.

Note that Windows 7 hosts are no longer supported, Workstation 16 will not function on them.
Now looking at the compare and contrast, we see that it's free for personal use. VMware Workstation Player | VMware

Here are older versions. OldApps.com Search Results

    Here you can get 15.5.6:
    Code:
    https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/downloads/info/slug/desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_workstation_player/15_0
That version is the latest that should run in 7. The very latest seems to be 16. Even though that web page says 15.5, clicking the download link downloads 16, so I had to find this link.

    Edit-

For some reason that link didn't want to work in my browser Pale Moon. But it appears to work in Firefox.

According the specs the OP has windows 10. 7 can still be used as a guest just not the host. 2000 can still be used as a guest.
