Windows 7 Virtual PC - Part 2 will not install

I found out the problem. Yes, one has to install the Virtual drive first, then the XP mode. After XP mode is installed I missed the step of 'log off' the first time running XP mode and then log on again immediately. I also was upgrading from Vista and so with 2 reloads of Win 7 I had more than 140 gigs of drive space used (two old systems saved) and so I finally did a complete format of Drive C, loaded in Win 7, then Professional 7, then KB95..., then XP mode and then the log off and log on. It all works fine now.
It would be nice if they did a very exact step one, two, etc. It took me 2 days and hours of reading to get it right. Granted now i understand the system better but a long frustrating learning curve.

Well, I am back. I did the full format of C, reinstalled it all and lo and behold it worked.
Now 3 days later, with some programs installed, it does not want to fire up the XP mode. This is after I installed several XP programs on it, they worked. A day later they still worked and to day, nothing!
What a drag this XP mode is, and I need it if I am going to upgrade to more faster systems.
Any thoughts or have you heard anything similar?

I also noted, there is directions at the bottom of the microsoft page:

But I do not have Windows Virtual PC from All Programs.

I tried rebooting a few times and re-installing the first program, but just sayes it is already installed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreaicated!

Try Virtual Box from SUN Microsistems . Is freeware and works better

I did something which is moved over to VMware. It installed very well and is a little different than XP mode from Windows. It seems an easier fix but I again found it 'disappeared' after a day of working perfectly. My solution is to go back to XP OS and forget about this for 6 months. I spent 5 days and about 5 hours each day trying to get XP to work in my new Dell 546 64 bit system. Neither system of VMware and XP mode worked after the 2nd day. I finally said I had wasted enough time on this and went back to faithful old XP. I plan to try again in 6 months. When I said I tried that means 4 formats of the HD, 3 installations of XP mode, 2 of VMware. Each time I learned a bit more but finally it just did not want to keep working. Maybe in 6 months they will have fixed all the bugs. Personally I liked VMware a little more. It seemed more secure than the XPmode.
