VMWare reboots cause VM Blue Screen

I decided to install VMWare Player and Import my existing XP Mode virtual amchine, which was working fine if slowly under Windows 7 Virtual PC. The Player install seemed to go okay, but when it first tried to (automatically) launch XP at the end of the install and Tool upgrade there was a quick Blue Screen that flashed, and then it went to the WIN XP Start Up selection screen (Safe Mode etc). I tried Safe Mode, Normal Mode, it would just keep cycling back to this screen, sometimes in between flashing that same Blue Screen. It went by so fast that the best I could get was "A problem has been detected..."

When I closed Player and restarted, and then re-opened the XP VM it launched fine! Since it was the first time into XP it installed some drivers and whatnot, and then said I had to restart (just like normal XP). So I let it restart and the same thing happened. This time I just shut the Player down and restarted it, and once again XP seemed to come up okay. Anybody else seen this, and if so what do I do about it?

Try to uninstall VPC integration components first before importing. You can go to Control Panel, Add/Remove in vm.

Also make sure your vmware vm is confiured as single cpu, since XP Mode vm has only a single processor.

Thanks huisinro. I did a bit more than that - I deleted that VM and re-imported my XP Mode VM. For whatever reason that worked better. Right now I am no longer getting BSODs; it all looks good. But I'm having a USB problem that I will post in a new thread.

I'll give you a for that one, but in my case all the years that I ran XP Pro (since its release) I found it to be very stable. My rig runs 24/7, I sometimes won't reboot it for weeks, and I can't even remember the last time it BSOD'ed under XP. For me I can only hope Win7 works as well.
