Virtual PC XP mode won't recognize my scanner

I have an Epson Perfection 3200 that attaches to the computer via IEEE 1394 Firewire. I can get the epson scan software to install, but the XP virtual environment can't find the scanner. I cannot find a way to install the drivers manually because the XP environment does not see it connected. I suspect that if it was a usb connection, it would find it, however, it is a firewire connection.

How do I get it to work? Any suggestions?

Haven't personally mounted firewire device in a virtual environment, but if it's like USB, your virtual environment should have an option to mount external devices, hopefully firewire is supported. let me find more info...

    Hi there
USB (and IEEE - Firewire) devices won't work on XP mode - especially if the Native USB device doesn't work on W7.

You need to install a fully blown NON XP mode virtual machine - suggest VBOX or vmware player / server.

Then so long as W7 supports "Generic USB devices" which it will do after you've installed the virtual machine software on the Host you can then attach ypur USB / Firewire devices to your GUEST. The Guest will then prompt for the USB driver software which you can install.

Windows XP mode is too limited for this sort of stuff -- it only works for very simple basic legacy applications -- I wouldn't really recommend it at all actually.

The Idea was actually great but it's really hobbled and in any case XP mode won't work on W7 Home premium.

    Cheers
