Vmware WKS 7.1 and vmware player 3.1 KILLS XP Mode
Hi all
You can try the new versions of vmware player (3.1) FREE and Workstation (7.1) - Commercial
http://communities.vmware.com/community/beta/ws
I think now that you can launch applications directly in UNITY mode with these new releases it should eliminate the need to use XP mode at all - and remember you can run vmware on 32 bit software and don't need to have the "Virtualisation feature" enabled in your CPU either. You can run this on W7 Home as well.
The graphics are improved and in general performance is so much better than XP mode I can't see any reason to even THINK of using XP mode any more -- apart from the fact that you get a copy of XP included in XP mode.
The Unity feature is really great now it allows you to launch APPLICATIONS as well --it's been working for printers for a while now with the previous releases.
(VBOX is also fine - nothing against it - but since we use vmware at work I also use it at home for consistency. I don't know if it has an equivalent to the "Unity" feature").
Cheers
