    USB Device Attach Problems

I'm having issues with attaching a USB device to Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I have an external compact flash card reader attached through USB to the computer. I have some software that needs to read and card but only works on XP. I can start the application in xp mode, then right click on the application in the Windows 7 taskbar, click "Manage USB Devices" and get a list of the devices connected to the Win 7 computer.

I used to be able to click the "attach" button on this list to attach the compactflash card reader that was listed. Now, I'm clicking "attach", and its not attaching. I restarted both the VPC and the Win 7 PC, but it status is always just "shared". I need to attach it!!! Please help, anything appreciated!

It may just be a driver issue. Have you installed the most current driver? If it isnt a win 7 driver it needs to be installed in compatibility mode.

To install in compat-- Right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS

Let us know if you need help

its a standard sandisk usb 2.0 compactflash, and sandisk says that it doesnt need a seperate driver to be installed. I will definitely try to uninstall and reinstall the reader in device manager and see what happens. thanks!
