    Anyone with non-English Win7? I've a little question

I'm working on a tool called XP-More, which will help manage Windows 7 Virtual Machines. When run, the tool first tries to locate the Virtual Machines folder. I wasn't able to get the folder's location from the system, so I'm relying on the location of another system folder. My problem is that I don't know if the VM folder's name is always "Virtual machines", even on non-English installations.

So, if you have a non-English installation (pro and above), do you have the following folder:
    C:\Users\<your user>\Virtual Machines ?
If not, is the Virtual Machine part translated to your language?

    Thanks!

As most of the folder names, Virtual Machines is also always in local language. For instance, the folder name in my different accounts is:
    • In Finnish: Näennäiskoneet
      • näennäis = virtual
      • koneet = machines

    • In Swedish: Virtuella datorer
      • virtuella = virtual
      • datorer = computers

    • In German: Virtuelle Computer
      • virtuelle = virtual
      • computer = computers

Thanks, Kari, though this is not the answer I was hoping to get...

Would you mind helping me out a bit?

Would it be possible for you to search the registry and look for values containing, say, the string Näennäiskoneet? I hope the VM's path would be defined somewhere in the registry, so I'll be able to get it from there.

I dont think this is going to help you; I'm using an English Seven Enterprise with Finnish, Swedish and German language packs to allow user accounts in four different languages (see the attached screenshot of my logon screen, a pic explains it better than words).

The register values in my system are pointing to MuiCache locations, which IMO means that a native Finnish system would have this key in different places.

Anyway, the key @C:\Windows\system32\VMCPropertyHandler.dll,-507 has a value Näennäiskoneet (Finnish for Virtual Machines) in following places:
    • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\MuiCache\20C\70BC3220
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MuiCache\20C\70BC3220
