Shortcut Missing in XP Mode

After having a major problem with XP Mode, I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Before doing this, I had a shortcut to Windows Explorer that showed up in the "Windows XP Mode Applications" entry on the Windows 7 Start menu. And it worked just fine. After reinstallation, that shortcut is missing. I have two others for installed aapplicaions that do appear, and that work correctly. And I am aware that to show up there, the shortcut needs to be in the ALL USERS->START MENU->PROGRAMS folder. And both the two shortcuts that DO appear, and the Windows Explorer shortcut are in the ALL USERS->START MENU->PROGRAMS folder.

Anyone know of what might cause a shortcut to fail to appear?

Update. Figured this out after a few blind alleys. To appear in the Windows 7 list of XP Mode Applications, apparently, three things are needed:
1. The shortcut must be in the ALL USERS->START MENU-> PROGRAMS folder
2. The application must NOT be listed in the WPCVAppExclueList key in the Registry
3. Once the application entry has been deleted from the WPCVAppExcludeList key in the Registry, XP must be rebooted for the change to be effective.

Took me a good while to figure out how to reboot the virtual machine--Answer, click the CTL+ALT+DEL menu item, choose SHUTDOWN, then from the next box dropdown list, either Shut Down or Restart. Once all three of those actions were taken, Windows Explorer does appear in the XP Mode Applications list in Windows 8

Could you give a little more detail on:
The application must NOT be listed in the WPCVAppExclueList key in the Registry

I am having trouble locating this to make the change.

did you notice the spelling mistake?
The application must NOT be listed in the WPCVAppExclueList key in the Registry
should be
The application must NOT be listed in the WPCVAppExcludeList key in the Registry
However, I followed this advice, application did not show in the list. I added the application in the other key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Virtual Machine\AppAllowList
rebooted the xp mode pc but to no avail. There must be something else going on.
The application is
"C:\Program Files\Pegasys Inc\TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4\TMPGEncAuthoringWorks4.exe"
Anyone else having the same issues??

follow on from previous post...
I used an exisitng working icon by replacing the path. The application started to launch but an error now appeared
"Cannot start virtual application" the application is blocked from running as a virtual application.
All I have to do now is figure out why??

John--As the other reply indicated, there is a spelling error in one of the references to the WPCVAppExcludeList (it should be Exclude, not Exclue). But you should be able to find the key. Be sure you are looking in the Registry for Windows XP in the Virtual Machine, NOT in the Registry for Windows 7. If you open the Windows XP Mode, start Regedit.exe, then click on the EDIT menu, and choose FIND, and enter WPCVApp it should find it for you.

Thanks for the tip. I was able to remove Windows Explorer from the Exclude list, but I found the list in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Virtual Machine\VPCVAppExcludeList

Notice that it is not WPCVAppExcludeList, but VPCVAppExcludeList.
