Vmware Player doesnt log me in at bootup

I have VMware player 3.0.1 on my Windows 7 Ultimate. For some reason when PC boots it doesn't log all the way in, I have to click my user name to finish the login process.

I don't have any accounts (users) on my system except admin.

There's no way under the control panel to fix this so I think the problem is a VMware problem, just wondering if anyone had an issue like this.

Thanks

I found a fix without doing any kind of registry edits.
basically I look at this thread Log On Automatically at Startup and it worked for me.

1- Type under search "netplwiz"
2- You will get a box that displayed below..
3- Then highlight your user name that you use/ like admin
4- Uncheck the box that says "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer
5- Hit apply, this will ask you to enter a password for entry. IF YOU DIDN'T USE A PASSWORD BEFORE DON'T PUT A PASSWORD leave it BLANK, if password used well then this will store password so you don't have to enter, kinda pointless if you were using a password before.
6- Hit OK and then restart and now it will just log you in like it did before you installed VMware Player 3.0.1

Feel free to ask questions.

Hi,

Thanks for posting your solution, but the steps in the tutorial you used to fix it, adds the exact same registry entries for you, just automatically.

If you check the post I linked you initially; find where it says it points to in regedit, you'll now see those entries added in your regedit.

So basically, the post with the fix I linked you to is the same thing. It's just you doing it manually versus the netplwiz doing it for you by unchecking that box.

Adding to or editing the registry yourself manually sometimes isn't necessarily harmful. Either way, it's how a lot of things are accomplished.

Cool.. I did check the post, its just I never do things within the registry and so I was looking for an alternative and I found one, by using the other tutorial, people now have a choice, manually or doing an automatic registry fix.
