I searched for a answer and checked the tutorial but it is all different, i had the installer etc and when i click it now it says Windows XP Virtual PC has already been installed.

    Hi there
there's now a "Virtualisation forum" where a lot of this stuff is discussed.

Did you install both sets of packages.

choose the 64 or x-86 versions and install the packages .msi and .msu

Once it's installed just run the virtual machines from the main menu (on W7).

It'll point you to the default Virtual machine. Right mouse click if you want to fiddle around with the "Virtual hardware".

Now double click it to start -- you'll be in an XP system.

Install any old app under ALL USERS and this will then be seen in the W7 menu -- you can place it direct on the W7 desktop.

Note -- like RDP you can switch between full screen and "windowed" by the little menu at the top of the screen.

To switch off the virtual machine click the CTRL-ALT-DEL caption on the top little toolbar. You won't be able to do it from the main (XP) menu.

Note also the display is a bit limited - only 16 bit colour representation -- still not too severe a limitation if you aren't using Paint, photoshop etc etc.

    Cheers
