Question: Is the XP Mode Beta independent of the Win.7 bit-version (x86/x64)? (I realize that the Virtual PC Beta is tied to the Win.7 version.)

    Only 32bit guest OS's are supported i.e. 32bit XP.

Thank you. I understand that. And I understand how you misconstrued my question. What I intended to ask was, "Is the [32-bit] XP Mode download the same regardless of which Virtual PC environment -- 32-bit/x86 or 64-bit/x64 -- in which it runs?"

Here some further info: You will be unable to change the desktop (no wallpaper or changing the colors - MS Blue is all you get). You will want to go into the tools menu when not in full screen to enable the 32 bit screen mode; either wise you get only a 16 bit screen, and Clear Type fonts though enable will not appear as Clear Type. Also in the 16 bit mode screen and window refresh are very slow. Also when in 16 bit mode your internet application will refresh very slowly from page to page. So ensure you turn off the interrogation before going to full mode.

Another problem: When you turn off interrogation you will loose all of your devices such as HDDs and other interrogation devices that may be using USB to commuinicate with your computer. However, these can be turned on through the USB Tool on the Tool Bar at the top of the Screen.

Before running XP for the first Time go to setup, and under Network change from NAT to Bridged (that why you can setup sharing folders through the Network), also it helps keep your internet from shut down (trust me on this one).

Hope this will help - Lee

    Airbot,

Please give some assistance here, I have tried every way possible to get it to change. Still no luck. What formula did you use.

    Thank you

I didn't try any formula. Control Panel-Display-Desktop-Change the background or color. Or get a wallpaper online and/or save it and right click, Set as Background. Should just be able to do it right away.

Still not happening. I know how to change either wallpaper or color. I again have attempted the normal windows paths, but to no avail. Attempts were make to change the screen using Faststone, Windows Live Photo Gallery, MS Office Picture Manager, ACDSee, along with some other applications that have been loaded into VXP. So thank you for the help. I am not new to computers. Started working with them out of college, BA degree in computer sciences (1972 upgrade to a Master in 1988). :)
