I'm confused. You want to resize partition...inside of XP Mode (the XP Mode VHD)? Or do you want to resize partition where 7 is installed? And btw you can mount a VHD inside of Windows 7 as a normal hard drive.

Partition Magic 8 will not run on 64 bit, but it will in XP Mode and I was wondering if anyone has tried to actually make changes to a hard drive. The only other choice is to spend $40 for a new program.

You can't change a physical hard drive from a virtual machine. Try using the GParted LiveCD.

Thanks Product Fred. I found Partition Wizard Home Edition that will work on 64 bit and allow me to resize and create partitions, but like Win7, you can only move to the right. I took a look at GParted LiveCD and it had a lot of issues with file systems. Is .0.5.2-9 a reliable version?

Partition Magic destroyed my partition. Situtation: I have one hard drive in my laptop, split into a C: partition for my Win7 installation, and D: partition for my files and documents. Used Partition Magic without thinking; ignored compatibility warnings like a fool, etc etc. My D: partition disappeared, C: seems to work fine. ... |

Partition Magic My new laptop is coming soon with Windows 7 Home Premium preinstalled. Until now I have used Partition Magic version 8 to divide my HD into system and data partitions for easier backups in XP. Anyone know if PM 8 will work safely in W 7 or will I need to upgrade it? Any built-in utilities to do... |
