XP Pro as a guest in Win 7 64

Preemptive problem solving question. I am using Win 7 64 bit on an Intel T6600 machine. I'm a vm newbie for sure but I have recently acquired VirtualBox with an Ubuntu guest installed for some remote class work. It works great...very impressive.

I would like to install WinXP Pro SP3 32 bit as an additional guest. I have an iso copy and plan to install from that.

    Questions:

    1. Any gotchas using XP Pro 32 bit as a guest in VirtualBox on a 64 bit machine?

    2. Part of the reason for doing this is for safer surfing. Is it not true that using VBox as a "sandbox" adds a good deal of protection from viruses etc. as long as you don't save the current machine state when you exit the vm? Or is this just wishful thinking? Can someone point me to a resource that discusses the subject of using virtual machines for added security?

    Thanks in advance.

There is more info but do a search in the box above as a lot of different opinions are there for the taking. IMO
