All kidding aside you will be ok. A new MB is the usual criteria for a new key and that is waived many times. Good luck
For added protection call MS, get a verbal confirmation and the reps name.
I have re-installed Windows a few times, with an upgrade version.
Once when it was released.
Second, when I got my first SSD (clean install).
Third- back to a new (different) SSD clean install again.
Fourth, MOBO died & had to replace it with new one.
Just done another clean install yet, again.
Of all 4 Complete Clean installations, I had to call MS for the Motherboard. the rest of the time was the activate by phone.
It was no problem either time.
Point is, as rich said, You'll have no issues. Especially if this is only activation 2.
They really only care that it is only 1 copy active on 1 computer, and that that key is legit.
or unless you're re-activating once a week...
A retail Win7 version other than OEM version can be installed as often as you want, moved to another machine of your choice, reinstalled with any combination of hardware changed - as long as it isn't on more than one machine at a time.
With the Upgrade version, you'll need to have any OS on the HD when you boot the Win7 DVD for it to pass a flag allowing the use of an Upgrade version key. However, you can install it to a new HD and then do a workaround by running an Upgrade install from the new desktop which will cause it to allow use of the Upgrade key.
