    To have able to open it right click on file in Windows\logs\CBS folder,choose "copy" and paste in i.e on your desktop,next upload this one from from your desktop

    Just for the sake of it by chance if you minimize the update window is there a command waiting for your attention behind. When my system freezes up during several win 7 updates it was because an action on my part was needed and it was hidden. Just saying?

    @Seamus

    Do both things at once

    1.Disable all shell extensions whom belongs to 3p applications by using this soft http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
    2.Disable all 3p aplications processes and services (clean boot procedure) How to Troubleshoot a Problem by Performing a Clean Startup in Windows 7 or Vista,next restart and try again install updates
